Hastelloy: custom CNC machining and prototyping

AC Manufacturing is a complete cnc machine shop capable of custom machining parts to customer specification (conventional and 5 axis machining). We can machine to print and accept the most common file formats including: .dwg .dxf .iges .step .sat as well as .pdf files. If you don't see your file format here let us know. Please send us files to: sales@acmanufacturing.com We can accept both small and large run jobs of custom machined parts. Have a look and check out how we use 5 axis machines to manufacture custom parts including Hastelloy.

We accept both small and large run jobs, Minimum quantity for order is 1.
Short lead times are often available 2-3 days.
Standard lead time is 2 weeks.

tungusten cnc milling Hastelloy is a registered trademark name of Haynes International, Inc. The predominant alloying ingredient is typically the transition metal nickel.

The primary function of the Hastelloy super alloys is that of effective survival under high-temperature, high-stress service in a moderately to severely corrosive, and/or erosion-prone environment where iron-based alloys would fail, including the pressure vessels of some nuclear reactors, chemical reactors, distillation equipment, and pipes and valves in chemical industry. Although a super alloy, Hastelloy experiences degradation due to fabricating and handling.

Hastelloy c276 Machining hastelloy in our cnc machine shop: Hastelloy C-22 is extremely resistant to corrosion in oxidizing and reducing environments. C-22 has shown an outstanding resistance to a wide range of chemicals, including chlorides, organic and inorganic solutions. In addition to having exceptional corrosion resistance, Hastelloy C-22 can also be readily fabricated. It exhibits superior welding conditions, providing excellent as-welded conditions for custom process applications and parts in chemical-based industries such as food, beverage, personal care, and pharmaceutical.

Hastelloy X is a wrought nickel base alloy with excellent high temperature strength and oxidation resistance. It is recommended especially for use in furnace parts because it has unusual resistance to oxidizing, reducing, and neutral atmospheres. Care must be taken to make sure there are rigid machine setup and sharp tools, so that work hardening and surface glazing do not occur.

Hastelloy X is machinable in both the wrought and cast form. Low cutting speeds and an ample flow of coolant are required.Better finishes can be obtained by increasing the speed and decreasing the feed. Automatic screw machines are not recommended because speeds are generally excessive and carbide-tipped tools will not hold up. A sulfur-base cutting fluid should be used for machining this alloy.

AC manufacturing mashine shopHastelloy C-276 alloy is widely accepted in the chemical process and associated industries, and now has a 50-year-old track record of proven performance in a vast number of corrosive chemicals. Alloy C-276 can be successfully manufactured for many custom parts. The alloy tends to work harden but with the proper care, the alloy is readily hot and cold formed. Like other nickel alloys, it is ductile, easy to form and weld, and possesses exceptional resistance to stress corrosion cracking in chloride-bearing solutions (a form of degradation to which the austenitic stainless steels are prone). Hastelloy C276 is one of the few alloys resistant to wet chloride gas, hypochlorite and chlorine dioxide solutions and has exceptional resistance to strong solutions of oxidizing salts, such as ferric and cupric chlorides.

Nickel & cobalt base corrosion, temperature and wear-resistant alloys, such as Hastelloy C276, are classified as moderate to difficult when machining, however, it should be emphasized that these alloys can be machined using conventional production methods at satisfactory rates. During custom machining these alloys work harden rapidly, generate high heat during cutting, weld to the cutting tool surface and offer high resistance to metal removal because of their high shear strengths.

In our cnc machine shop we use 5 axis machines such as Haas UMC 750 and Haas VF-5SS as well as conventional milling equipment to machine Hastelloy parts.
